In a stunning upset, Virginia Congressman Bob Good has lost his bid for re-election to a challenger State Sen. Jen Kiggans. Good, a staunch conservative who was first elected to Congress in 2021, had been a vocal supporter of former President Donald Trump.
However, Good fell out of favor with Trump after voting against certifying the results of the 2020 presidential election. Trump has since endorsed Kiggans, who is a more moderate Republican.
Good's defeat is a sign of the growing divide within the Republican Party between Trump's loyalists and more traditional conservatives. It also shows that Trump's endorsement can still have a major impact on GOP elections, even after he left office.
